Seasoned Executive Offering Due Diligence
and Supply Chain Expertise for Manufacturing Companies

John Flanagan is an operating partner for investment banking firms specializing in management buyouts. John serves in the capacity of chairman to oversee the operations of various manufacturing concerns. He has worked concurrently as Chairman for as many as five different companies.

Prior to establishing Flanagan International, he spent 6 years as President of American Optical's Safety Business before it was acquired by the Cabot Corporation. He then became Chief Operating Officer of Cabot Safety Corporation, a $250 million manufacturer of industrial safety equipment.

He spent 12 years at Incom International, the first management buyout led by Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts & Co. While at Incom, John served as president of various businesses including Boston Gear, Air Maze, and the Heim Bearing Company. Accomplishments at these companies. He was also Director of Materials Management Rockwell International, the Bic Pen Company, and the American Chain & Cable Company.

John started his business career at Barry Controls as a 17-year-old factory worker. While at Barry Controls he progressed rapidly through the materials management hierarchy. During this time he attended Boston College four nights a week for six years, earning a B.A. in English.

Twenty years later, after serving as president of three companies, he would receive his first formal business education in the Advanced Management Program (AMP) of Harvard Business School.

He is co-author of Just-in-Time for the '90s, a book written after he visited Japan as a guest of the Japanese government. While in Japan he investigated the inner workings of many Japanese companies including Toyota, Sony, and Canon Camera. The book focuses on Japan's Total Quality and Just-In-Time movements.

He has been teaching courses at the university level in Purchasing and Production & Inventory Control for the past 23 years, most recently at Boston College. He has had
